London College of Communication's School of Printing and Publishing is delighted to announce that Penguin has chosen to provide its very first publishing scholarship to be awarded, via a competitive basis, to a student to study on the book and journal pathway on the MA in publishing course at the College.
The scholarship is for £3,000 and will be awarded for the academic year 2009-10.
Any graduate student applying for and being accepted for the MA in book publishing for that year will be invited to apply for the scholarship. The deadline for applications is July 30. Once all applications have been received, the winner will be chosen from a committee of senior personnel at Penguin UK and on the MA in book publishing.
Gill Davies, professor in book publishing at the University of the Arts London, stated 'It is marvellous that Penguin has chosen the LCC for the very first publishing scholarship to be awarded by the company.'
Helen Fraser, Managing Director of Penguin Books remarked 'Penguin is delighted to be supporting the London College of Communication's publishing masters' through a scholarship. We admire LCC's course, value the students who have worked at Penguin either during or after their MA, and are delighted to find a way to reward student excellence through this award.'
