The US-UK Fulbright Commission offers scholarships to study or pursue research in any academic field, at any accredited institution in the US. Approximately 30 awards are given to UK citizens each year.
Typical grants include a monthly maintenance stipend. Fulbright scholars receive a high level of support ranging from visa processing and health insurance to a comprehensive pre-departure orientation and re-entry session. Scholars are also encouraged to join the extensive alumni network, the British Fulbright Scholars Association (BFSA).

Minimum eligibility:
* UK citizenship (EU citizenship for Schuman Awards)
o Candidates may reside anywhere except the US
o Preference given to candidates who have not had extensive recent experience in the US
o All successful applicants must be able to travel to the US on a J-1 visa
o Some categories may require a PhD, teaching experience, or other specific qualification
Characteristics of successful applicants:
o Serve as good ambassadors for the Fulbright Commission and for the UK whilst in the US and have shown an intention to share what they have learned upon returning home
