Young Arab Leaders (YAL) Scholarship, USA

Young Arab Leaders (YAL) was founded on January 25, 2004 at the World Economic Forum. YAL is a network of Arab men and women eager to trigger change in the world around them by contributing to development through the empowerment and nurturing of youth. Its mission is to bring global opportunities and worldview to the youth of the Arab world and take forth the region’s exceptional human capital to broaden horizons and develop global leaders. It spreads modern leadership values and fosters the development of future Arab leaders, contributing to the development of the region through a set of results-driven initiatives. It is the leader in its field. Whereas AUD’s mission is to fulfill the broad educational needs of a culturally diverse student body by achieving excellence in teaching and learning, ultimately resulting in the intellectual, personal, and professional success of its graduates and the advancement of society. It is from this principle of empowering Arab youth through education that YAL-UAE and AUD have partnered to provide 4 scholarships for eligible candidates.
Eligibility and Application ProcessTo be eligible to apply for the YAL-UAE Scholarship, the candidate should:
  • Be a UAE National.
    Have a minimum high school average of 90% and above is required.
    Fulfill the Admissions requirements at AUD. For more information on the Admissions Criteria, please click here or contact admissions directly.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and Entrepreneurial spirit; these skills will be assessed during the constructive interview with the candidate and AUD shall receive a copy of the Evaluation Form completed by YAL Scholarship Committee.
  • Have the desire to advance the state of his/her society and community; a prior submitted personal statement will be discussed in the interview. (A 500-word personal statement addressing the qualities that distinguish the applicant to apply for YAL Scholarship and the desire to advance the state of his/her society and community.)

If eligible students should follow the following application process:

  • Interested applicants that fit the criteria above should send an email to UAEScholarships@yaleaders.org directly and introduce themselves to the YAL-UAE office. Applications are administered through the YAL-UAE Office.
  • Students will need to prepare the following documents and follow the application process listed below:
  1. Passport Copy.
  2. Khalasat Al Qayd.
  3. Official letters of recommendation from two referees endorsing the student’s ability to successfully complete university work.
  4. A 500-word personal statement addressing the qualities that distinguish the applicant to apply for YAL Scholarship and the desire to advance the state of his/her society and community.
  5. Completing YAL Scholarship Application Form (provided by YAL-UAE Office).
  6. Applicants should submit salary certificates of all employed members in their family.
  7. Eligible applicants will sit for a qualifying interview conducted by YAL Scholarship Committee.

Note

  • Students with financial need will be given priority.
  • Students should participate in at least 3 YAL events yearly that will be announced by YAL.
  • Scholarships are renewed on a yearly basis, and students are expected to maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or above, measured at the end of each academic year.
  • Students must enroll for two successive semesters to carry a full load of academic credits (12-16) each semester.
  • Scholarship covers Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters.
  • The scholarship does not cover the application fee of AED 200 or any exam fees.
